If you love drinking wine, you may have gone through some careless moments, at one time or another, when you got stain on your clothing. The experience can be both embarrassing and disgusting, but it surely is no reason to go into panic. You just need to make sure that you act quickly, getting rid of that ugly mark while it is still wet.

Wine stain removal requires the use of a few everyday kind of stuff that includes a clean cloth, baking soda, boiling water, club soda, salt, talcum powder, and white wine. These things are known to be mild and safe to use on most fabrics, but if you want to be sure, it is best to first try out the procedure on a small, hidden portion of your stained clothing to see if it causes discoloration or some other kind of damage.

After ensuring that you are not going to end up making matters worse, you begin the wine stain removal process by blotting the marked spot using a clean cloth. This helps reduce the spot to a minimum. Do not be tempted to scrub off the tarnished portion as it may either spread the stain or damage the fabric. Always be sure to blot from the outside going to the center of the spot.

Next in order would be to dab some white wine on the stain and blotting the spot with a clean cloth. More stubborn marks that show no reaction to white wine may require the application of club or baking soda, salt, or talcum powder. Powder is generally known to work well against textile discoloration by soaking it up.

An alternative method involves using boiling water, if the clothing fabric in question can handle it. This is done by laying the stained spot across a large washbowl and pouring the boiling water slowly and right on to the blemished portion of the clothing. Stains usually let go under such heat, and once they clear up, the material needs to be washed with cold water. If the clothing comes with a washing instruction tag, follow what it says. Make sure to let the fabric dry naturally. Air drying has been known to help get rid of stains during the drying up process. Relying on heat from an electronic dryer is not recommended as it often causes the spot to deeply set in instead.

The important thing to keep in mind given the above wine stain removal methods is to act quickly in carrying them out. The methods work, but they work best only when the blemish was not left to dry.
