A laundry detergent is an important part of every home. You use it every time you need to clean your clothes and you do that regularly. Buying your laundry detergent on a regular basis can be burden on your time and your budget. So why not make it instead?

It is a good thing that you can make your own laundry detergent. This will not only save you money but also give you more control on what is contained in your detergent. Lots of commercial detergents contain substances that can irritate your skin or hurt the environment. With a homemade laundry detergent, you do not need to worry about all that. You can just focus on cleaning your clothes and nothing else.

Here are three simple homemade laundry detergent recipes which anyone can do at home.

Recipe 1
For the first recipe you will need a quart of water, 2 cups of grated bar soaps, 2 cups of washing soda and 2 cups of borax.
The recipe is very easy to do. Just add the grated bar soap on a boiling quart of water. Wait until the soap is melted. Keep the setting at low so that the soap will not be burned. Also, use a pan that is not used for food.
After dissolving, pour the mixture in a pail and add the borax and washing soda. Stir until all the ingredients are dissolved. Add 2 gallons of water to the pail and stir until it is mixed. Now you can use ΒΌ c of soap for each load of laundry. Just cover the pail and open it until you are going to use it. Also, do not forget to stir it for the mixture will get really sticky with time.

Recipe 2
This recipe has the same ingredients as that of recipe 1. You will need hot water, a soap bar, half a cup of borax and 1 cup of washing soda.

The process is also somewhat similar. You need to first dissolve the grated soap bar into a saucepan with hot water. In the same way, keep the pan in low heat.
After heating, put the mixture in a 10-gallon pail that has hot water. Add the soap along with the other ingredients. Stir until the powder is dissolved and has blended well with the mixture. Add more hot water.
You can now use 1 cup of this detergent per load. Stir the soap to keep it from sticking. This is a milder version of the first recipe because it contains more water.

These are just some recipes on how you can create your own detergent at home. It is really easy and the ingredients can be gotten from your local store. Imagine all the money that you can save from just creating your own detergent. You can just pay pennies for each load of laundry using this method. Why buy laundry detergents when you can make your own? It is a wonder why people content themselves with buying commercial detergents when they can readily create one at home.
