Ink Stain Removers For Your Laundry

A stain on your laundry can be the greatest of nightmares. They never stain the old clothes, only new and the best clothes gets stubborn ink stains when you least expect. Young kids are the ones most likely to get their clothes stained. What formula do you use to clean them up, and; does it work? The first and most important thing that you need to know is that, there are two types of inks: permanent and water ink stains. Water ink stains are much easier to remove while the permanent ink stains present a harder challenge. These are marks caused by permanent markers and highlighters.

Markers of different colors cause water ink stains. They can be removed by laying the stain over a dry and clean white towel. Put a few drops of water on the stain and blot it with a white cloth. The stain will get removed as you blot. Permanent ink stains on the other hand make the stains difficult to remove from the fabric. If the garment is white, bleaching will not affect it but if it is colored; that is hard to deal with. Here is a list of effective ink stain removers:

Alcohol can be used as a stain remover for ink when rubbed on the stain until the stain disappears completely by putting a clean white towel underneath the stained garment. When the stain has fully disappeared, rinse it completely off the rubbing alcohol.

Buttermilk can also remove ink stains if the satin is soaked in the solution for a full day-24 hours then rinsed using liquid hand soap like ivory soap and cold water.

Shaving cream, believe it or not, can get rid of stubborn ink stains instantly. The cream’s foam is sprayed on the stained area and let to settle for 30 minutes before it is rinsed by rubbing it gently under cold water.

Wetting the cloth before lathering it gently with ivory soap and then leaving it for 30 minutes is guaranteed to remove the stain. Next, add a few drops of liquid detergent on the pre-stained area as you rub gently under cold and clean water.

Acetone is another stain remover for ink. However, it affects some garment types especially rayon and acetate fabrics. To test its effect on the garment, use a hidden part of the cloth. This too works using the same method as of rubbing alcohol and nail polish.

Toothpaste lifts off stains from the fabric too. Repeat a process of rubbing the toothpaste on the stained area, waiting for a few minutes before rinsing it off in cold water. Repeat this until the stain fades away completely.

Some ink stain removers may work better, although I still believe that a little faith in some of these substances also does play a vital role. The best action to take when you see a stained fabric is to avoid mixing it with other clothes, then testing these substances on it, but on a hidden spot to make sure that it does not affect the fabric material.
