Odors are quite a normal problem at home. This is a more frequent problem if you have pets. Pet owners cannot help but to have headaches when their pets suddenly commits accidents on their furniture or carpet. And the problem is not just the stain. It is also the smell. What makes things worse is that household pets like cats and dogs have this habit of always peeing on the same area. This means that if you fail to remove the smell on a certain part of the house, chances are your pet will do it on the same spot again. Also, commercial odor removers simply do not cut it. I have tried applying these on the areas where my pets have peed but to no avail, they did it again. They have extraordinary senses after all.

So what can an ordinary pet owner do when their pets commit accidents? That’s simple. Create a pet odor eliminator to solve the problem. You do not need to buy them. You can do them at home. The best part is that it will only require ingredients that you can find in your cupboard. This recipe can work with anything. It can be applied on sofas and carpets
alike. It can also be applied on mattresses or futons. Finally, there is a way to counter the smell.

For this recipe, you will need vinegar and water along with a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide, a handful of baking soda and a teaspoon of dishwashing soap. You will also need some paper towels and a vacuum cleaner. It is best that you have a wet and dry vacuum cleaner so you can completely eliminate the smell.

The reason behind these ingredients is their properties. Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide has anti-bacterial effects. And vinegar can dissolve ammonia that lets smells stick. Baking soda is also a good agent in absorbing moisture while the dish washing soap has general cleaning properties. The secret ingredient here is the baking soda. You will find out later why I chose it.

To do the recipe, you just need to combine a part of vinegar and a part of water. The mixture has to be 50-50. This means that if you put a cup of vinegar, you should also put a cup of water. The amount will depend on how much you need to clean.

After creating this mixture, you need to create another mixture combining the baking soda, dishwashing soap and hydrogen peroxide. Once you are done, your pet odor eliminator substances are ready. You need to just apply these two on the affected area using the vinegar solution first followed by the baking soda solution. Just be sure to absorb everything with paper towels first. That way, there will not be too much liquid for the baking soda to absorb. Let the baking soda solution be until the solution has dried up. After this, get your vacuum cleaner. Once you vacuum the area, you will get the baking soda which carries the dirt. Congratulations. You have successfully eliminated the smell.
