Windows will always be a part of your home. It sheds light and air into your home but it also gets dirty. Filthy windows do not make a comfortable home. It can also affect the air you breathe which can trigger allergies or asthma. This is the reason why you need to clean your windows on a regular basis. In fact, some people would suggest doing basic window cleaning once a month just so it will not accumulate dirt. Here is a simple process on how to do some window cleaning that can save your health, money and effort.
Clean the Outside Windows
Make sure you have window cleaning supplies before you start your work.
The outside area is the part of your window that is exposed. This area needs more cleaning than the inside area because it tends to accumulate a lot of dirt. Here is a simple way to clean this.
First, get a bucket of warm water with detergent. This will be your window cleaner. I will not get into adding other ingredients because this recipe can work for pretty much any type of window.
When this is ready, it is time to start cleaning. You will begin with the screen. This is where all the dust from the outside is trapped. Dismantle it and let a host run through them. If you can, get a rag and rub the screen gently. This will remove the trapped dirt and the window smell.
After cleaning your screen, clean your window area. Look out for cobwebs and remove them with a broom. Clean your window frame with a sponge and a bucket of water. Soak the sponge and clean your window making sure that each row is covered. Dry your sponge with a cloth with each swipe so that the dust will be removed. This will prevent black lines on your window pane. After cleaning, dry the windows with a cloth.
Clean the Inside Windows
Some houses have windows inside their house. It can be because of their house design. These windows need extra care because cleaning it can soil your floor. It is not like outside windows which you can quickly clean and dismantle.
For cleaning inside windows, you need to lay a towel on the floor to prevent water from spilling into it. Then, you need to dust the windows to get it ready for cleaning. A simple duster or cloth will do.
Once the window is dusted, you can now get a wet sponge and clean the window in the same way that you have cleaned the outside ones. Clean in an S pattern. This way, you can cover each row. After cleaning, use a dry rag to remove the moisture from your window.
So those are basic window cleaning tips for you. As you can see, it does not involve a lot of equipments. It also does not involve complicated home recipes for window cleaners. It is just all laid out in a straightforward way. If you follow this, it will keep your windows dust free especially if it is done on a regular basis.
